I have been a Registered Massage Therapist in Alberta since March of 1999.
I am a graduate of a 2,200 hour Diploma in Massage Therapy from Foothills College of Massage Therapy, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I am a member in good standing with the Canadian Massage & Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association.
I am trained in Swedish Relaxation Massage, Therapeutic Massage & Deep Tissue Massage. I have continued my education in Aromatherapy, Myofascial Release, P.N.F. Stretching, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Infant Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Iridology, Chi Nay Tsang and CranioSacral Therapy & SomatoEmotional Release.
CranioSacral Therapy has become my primary focus, it is a non-invasive, gentle yet effective bodywork. It is beneficial without harmful side effects.
I have attended courses in CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release to the Advanced level. As well as for CranioSacral Therapy for Paediatrics.
I am a Teaching Assistant for the Upledger Institute; I assist with courses for practitioners that are learning CST and have lead an informal study group for CST practitioners. I am a Techniques Certification applicant with the Upledger Institute.
Assisting children with healing presents it's own challenges and fun!
I hope that a child will stay on the treatment table during the session but I can treat them while they are being held by a parent, in a chair or on the floor if needed.
I hope that the infant or child will be able to receive continuous treatment but if they need to have a diaper change or use the bathroom, have a nursing break or feeding break or movement break then that is available to them to make them more comfortable with the session.
I can work with children in play & movement, it's fine if they would like a story read to them by the parent or they would like to sit & draw.
These are all ways to be able to build trust and confidence with you and your child to be able to utilize CranioSacral Therapy techniques to help support your child's healing and growth.
For me, it is about working with the family, so comfort and consistency are important.
I have worked with Mom's who are expecting or trying to conceive, new born babies, toddlers, children and teenagers.
I have worked with children labelled Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ADD, and hyperkinetic.
I work with "normal' kids who have growing pains, nightmares, sleep disorders, digestive problems, immune system challenges, headaches, and those that have experienced trauma's. Types of trauma's are those that are physical, bio-mechanical, chemical, and emotional in origin.
Some children need a few sessions and others require ongoing care. It depends on the vitality and health of the child, as well as how they respond to the treatment.
